Venus, Goddess of Love
This is a Mars/Venus week.
Sunday and Monday Venus takes the lead opposing Jupiter and squaring Neptune.
This configuration is called a T-Square. If what I’ve just said sounds like a
foreign language, stand up. Imagine Venus shining brightly above your head.
Imagine you are standing on Jupiter. Extend your right arm parallel to the
ground. Neptune is at your right hand, barely visible in your peripheral
vision.
A T-square is an activating or triggering configuration. Planets opposite one
another can either work together or oppose, resist, even sabotage each other.
We experience it as tension, inner conflict, unrest – unless we choose to
resolve the tensions so they can work together.
The good news is that Venus and Jupiter are very compatible. Venus is about
relationships, love, beauty, values, peace, all things sensuous and sensual.
Jupiter is about expansion. Jupiter likes to grow things, but as we’ll see
later this week, Jupiter can blow things out of proportion.
You can imagine, though, how well Venus and Jupiter work together. Venus is the
daughter of Jupiter – his shining star. How does Neptune fit in? Neptune is her
Uncle, brother of Jupiter and co-ruler of the sign Pisces. I’ll do a piece on
Neptune and Pisces at a later date, but the key to understanding Neptune is to
think about the action of the ocean. Waves come in, go out, come in, go out.
They deliver things to the beach. They take things away. They dissolve
footprints. They make things disappear. This is the meeting place of water and
earth. As Earth extends its borders, the ocean erodes them away.
The function of Neptune in our psyche is to dissolve, let go, surrender
control, allow ourselves to be swept away into imaginal realms, into vast inner
space where we connect with the Divine. Neptune is about a return to Inner
Peace and Oneness.
This week provides an opportunity to ground and center ourselves in our hearts,
to get in touch with our bodies, to sink into our inner depths and open to the
Infinite. This is where our inner strength and guidance resides. I hope you
will take quiet time for yourself this week. Time to just Be. Time without Doing.
It will refresh your Spirit, it will warm your Soul and it will provide a
foundation for next week.
Mars, God of War
The only potential trap this week is on Tuesday, the Third Quarter Moon at the beginning of Aries. This energy wants to do. It is aggressive, impulsive and can be confrontational. It can destroy inner peace if we let it. Mars, the god of war, rules Aries and Mars has been active from June 12th -20th, conjunct the USA North Node. The future of our country has been hanging in the balance.
As you know, we averted a war with Iran a few days ago. A strike had been planned and for some perhaps Neptunian reason, our President canceled it just 10 minutes before launch. Some say it was because he became aware of the potential casualties. Others think the Pentagon discouraged him. Whatever the reason, I think this was his finest hour and I applaud his choice. The encouraging message we can take from this is that, hopefully, America’s future will not include another war.
I know we have not come to Peace with Iran, but we can germinate this seed of hope. The only way we are going to transform our world is to embody the values we hold, to live by them, to bring into the world the best of our divine nature. Physical reality is vibration. It responds to frequencies. It manifests according to resonance. Reality will resonate with our peace, our love and compassion, our good will and tender dreams. This is the greatest gift we can give to our world.
The Forgotten Feminine
What we seek as visionaries, as spiritual beings, lies in the forgotten Feminine. My gift from the Universe on the Full Moon was a channeled teaching on understanding the Patriarchy and healing the Feminine. The oldest, and perhaps the saddest, of the conflicts in our reality is that between men and women. This is becoming more visible as we grow more polarized over abortion. I think we all know that this tug of war is not about abortion, but about freedom and control.
I want to share with you my understanding of the teachings of Djehuty, an Ascended Master whose former incarnations include Hermes Trismegistus, Thoth, Merlin and St. Germaine. Astrologer, teacher and channel Tom Jacobs has created a course called “Loving Lilith: An End to Shame.” Text and guided meditations are by Djehuty. The idea of channels and ascended masters may feel foreign to you, but suspend your disbelief for a few moments and listen to his story. See if it resonates.
The Human Race was birthed about 200,000 years ago. As newborns, we had been nestled safely in the bosom of the Goddess. In our infancy we were taken care of, fed, loved, all our needs met. About 6000 years ago, give or take a century, human consciousness took an evolutionary leap. We woke up to a new part of our brain – we awakened into Mind.
We were kicked out of the nest. This painful moment remains the source of our collective sense of loss and imperfection, our myth of the Fall, our dreams of Paradise, our insecurity and shame. We were expelled from one reality and forced to fend for ourselves in an alien world. Inevitably we grew up. We became adolescents – sexual beings. Our curiosity was aroused. We wanted to go out and explore. Once the initial shock was over and we accepted that we couldn’t go back to our baby bliss, we set about learning how to take care of ourselves. We began to think, to wonder, to ask questions. We began to dream, conceive, create.
In the first stage of our evolution we were immersed in the Feminine, the energy of Being. We were content to rest in Oneness and bliss. The Feminine gives life – an incredible power! The Feminine nurtures. When we awakened to Mind, however, we needed to embody the Masculine. The Feminine energy had to be suppressed for humankind to evolve. Think about how hard it is sometimes just to get up off the couch. The only way to lift out of immersion was through conscious choice to overcome our inertia.
This is what we have been doing for 6000 years – exploring through our minds, learning how to do things, build things, make things happen. And for the most part, we’ve done it really well. To create civilizations is an amazing accomplishment. We’ve learned how to do that. The emphasis for the last 6000 years has been on Doing – learning through doing. We necessarily became immersed in the masculine mode.
I like this perspective. It takes blame and conflict out of the picture. It is true that governments are waging war on women, yet again. And it’s ironic that women are blamed for the “Fall.” It’s also true that women have integrated their inner masculine energy, claimed their power and are no longer willing to accept blame, shame and control. However, it’s abundantly clear that we are way out of balance. Men and women alike have embraced a masculine ethic. We all are out of balance. As quantum physicist and mystic Amit Goswami advises, “Do-Be-Do-Be-Do.”
We have come to the end of this experiment. The Cosmic Pendulum has reached its limit. We hover on the brink of disaster, not because the masculine energy is bad, but because it is incomplete. It must be tempered by the Feminine principle. This is our next Evolutionary Leap into an enlightened and integrated whole. We need to bring back the Feminine, and indeed that is the key to navigating this transition – surrender to Being. This is what is being asked of us. It’s time to become Spiritual Adults.
Djheuty says we are fully equipped for this transformation. We have learned how to create. Now we need to adjust our values. Do we really want to continue this course of competition, conflict, domination, control, acquisition and hoarding of assets at the expense of the whole? We know it isn’t sustainable and that is why it’s collapsing. Instead of exerting more control, we need to surrender, allow ourselves to be drawn into a better future.
Evolution is inevitable. Many will resist and be left behind. Generations will keep flowing forward without them. But we have this most amazing opportunity right now. For the first time in human history we can evolve consciously. We can go along for the ride. We can even steer the course. How could we pass up this wondrous opportunity? It’s unthinkable.
So where do we start? Practice Being. Get out in open space. Open space within yourself. Seek silence and peace and connection to your Sacred Source. Don’t worry that you don’t have enough time. You will find that time spent away from Doing will increase your efficiency when you get back to your list.
Strengthen your relationship with your Feminine side. Venus, Jupiter and Neptune are supporting us this week. Let yourself be drawn by their energy. Next week may be a challenge.
