There is a misconception that spirituality is about denying the flesh and aspiring to earn reward in the next life. Our religions have taught us that we are fallen and unworthy but can still be saved if we believe in what they preach. This understanding nourished many souls through many centuries, but clearly it’s not enough for now. We need more than belief – we crave experience.
We have moved so far away from Source that we have forgotten our purpose. In its search to understand the laws of the Universe, science has stripped meaning from our paradigm. In this cosmology, we are an accident of physics and chemistry. We are insignificant in the vastness of space, a speck on a dot at the end of an arm of a minor galaxy spinning at break-neck speed into further isolation. Where do you and I fit into this picture? If it’s all meaningless, what’s the point? What is there to live for? All we are offered is material gratification, but no matter how much money we make, how much stuff we acquire, how successful we are in this purposeless consensus, we aren’t fulfilled. Worse, we are depressed, anxious, worrying constantly about an imagined future scarcity. We have become empty shells and the pain is intolerable.
But we keep on striving, aspiring toward some foggy golden glow on the horizon of an imaginary future, because we still believe there is something out there that will sate our hunger. We set goals, we achieve, we work harder, we improve ourselves so we can be more successful in the future. We believe in “The American Dream,” not the original one of freedom and equality and common ground, but the one that is reflected back to us on our televisions, through the news and social conversation; not the dream of a “more perfect Union,” but one of riches and glamor and fame. But it’s only an illusion. It’s just a projection like a movie on a screen. It shows us what we want, and don’t want, but what we really long for, what will bring us happiness, love, joy, fulfillment, isn’t out there. What we seek lies within, and we find it through spiritual practice.
We are traveling through a time of accelerated human evolution. Don’t laugh – I know it doesn’t look that way, but remember that 98% of reality is unknown. And it is precisely in this unknown that rebirth is brewing. As we watch our external world crumble, the future is gestating in archetypal realms. It is being constructed out of the most beautiful dreams, the deepest longing, the most sacred intentions, the purest hearts. It is shaping itself into a form that expresses the highest potential of the human race.
More and more of us are doing this inner work. It begins with clearing out the clutter, processing the past, healing the inner child, and integrating the Shadow – both the dark and the light that we have excluded from consciousness. It’s a journey to inner peace, one in which we see the perfection of the path that brought us to this pregnant moment, when the universe holds its breath waiting to see what we will choose.
We will talk a lot about process which is all about waking up and becoming more aware. This necessarily involves meditation. We will never exhaust this subject because we will never exhaust the journey. There will always be more to learn – more insights, more moments of joy and ecstasy, more moments of grief and sorrow. Meditation will take us to the place within ourselves in which we can experience it all – not with indifference but with equanimity. Within this deep personal consciousness we encounter the collective consciousness of the All. Herein lies wisdom, infinite love, joy and ecstasy, a beauty beyond anything our eyes can perceive, a vastness that is not only profound, but is the essence of who we are. We are that! As we expose ourselves more to that truth, to that vibration, to that ecstatic energy, we will come to know who we really are, how miraculous, amazing, unbelievably beautiful we are. We will touch the ineffable and we will carry that vibration, that truth and vision into our daily lives.
We will hold the space, become the womb for the future we are gestating. We will, by our very presence, shift the vibration, raise the frequency around us. That brings us to body work, not working out and building muscles, although that’s good too because the stronger the physical body, the more energy it can carry, the more power it can hold. The body work of which I speak is fine-tuning the chakra system and integrating its energy into our nervous system. The world of the future will vibrate at a higher frequency. We have to expand our capacity to carry that energy. This is subtle work but it will keep us sane and it will make us effective. We will channel the energy of the Divine Feminine which is arising in all of us. This is the “Second Coming” we understood so literally in the past. No specific person is coming to our rescue. We are the channels for the return of the Feminine. We will not change the world with our hands. We will do it through our hearts.
But all that is to come after we clear out everything that stands in the way. We have to create more space within to hold it. So we’ll talk about ego, about duality, about the “monkey mind,” about our paradigm. We are finding our way to a bigger truth, a different vision that ultimately will manifest a more perfect world. I’ll share my understanding of certain spiritual principles that form a solid foundation upon which to embody the very future we are gestating. And we’ll talk about the Great Mystery. I’m endlessly curious – aren’t you?
I’m excited about taking this journey with you. I have scouted on my own but I anticipate the joy of sharing it with soul mates. And that’s what we all are, individual souls, each a fractal of the Oversoul that we call God.
Love yourself – you are so precious!
