Yesterday the ex-president avoided assassination with a slight turn of the head. The shooter missed his mark, but caught a bit of his ear. Of course the Republicans immediately accused Joe Biden for issuing a hit and Mike Johnson stated he would start an investigation.
But there is no point. The shooter was a 20-year-old registered Republican. He did manage to kill a MAGA in the stands and wound another before he was shot to death. I imagine that Trump never thought his violent proclamations would come back to wound him.
What a prelude to the Republican convention that starts today! Trump plans to announce his running mate. After he was shot and the shooter as well, Trump stood up and raised his fist, shaking it in white supremacy fashion. I can only imagine what lies he will work his crowd up with – probably calling for Biden’s head on a platter, or spike. Can we see the irony? This violent man who has wreaked havoc with our nation is now indignant that someone tried to shoot him back.
What a sad time it is for our nation! We are showing our dark underbelly to the world and throwing it into panic. The irony of this current lunar cycle is that Cancer is about family, home, nurturing and safety. Crabs carry their own shelter with them, wherever they go. Which brings up the shadow side of Cancer – fear.
Yesterday morning the Moon squared the Sun from 22:00 Libra to 22:00 Cancer, the aspect in which we experience a crisis of consciousness. Hours later there was an assassination attempt. And today Mars, the aggressive energy that urges us to take action, joined Uranus the planet of electrifying change. To top off our outrage, Eileen Cannon dismissed the documents case against Trump. Everyone is heated up and ready for conflagration.
So how do we cool things down? We keep our heads. We keep our heads connected to our hearts. We acknowledge the shadow of fear, but we do not give in to it. It won’t be easy, because the Full Moon, the second Full Moon in Cancer this month, takes place on Sunday the 21st, just before the Sun moves into Leo. The Moon at 29 Capricorn is conjunct retrograde Pluto just over the line into Aquarius. It’s a showdown of ideologies. We are on the brink of a future that is ours to create, only if we hold our vision, keep our faith, refuse to succumb to fear and live our convictions.
The symbolism is screaming at us. Are we going to cling to a past of violence and domination or are we choosing the Aquarian future in which we acknowledge our Oneness and bring peace into our world?
The key is energy. We need energy to sustain a high level of vibration. Fear, loathing, dread and doubt are all tempting us to slip back into their frequency. We cannot create a better future in that context of consciousness. The more we raise our energetic levels the more we access the values of Love. We feel compassion, empathy for those suffering. We envision ways to improve. We come together in wonder and curiosity and figure it all out. We experience belonging, loving, caring, awe and joy all the way to bliss.
The cosmos obliged today today as Mars activated Uranus in Taurus. The Sun is still high in the sky. The Moon is in Pluto’s Underworld undergoing transformation. The cosmic energies are supporting us to make the leap into a higher state of consciousness. The shenanigans of the outer world are distractions. The collective adolescent ego of humanity is ready to come of age.
Second Full Moon in Cancer
As of this month, the lunar cycles return to their usual polarities. For the next thirty months or so, Moons will oppose the Sun in their polar opposite signs. We could consider it the beginning of a return to normal. But the heavens are always ahead of us in timing. The transpersonal planets reveal what is coming up for change.
As mentioned we have the Moon in its brightest illumination conjunct the darkness of the Underworld’s Lord, Pluto. What is the Underworld? Jung considered it the Collective Unconscious. I was startled to read one astrologer’s opinion that the Underworld was Earth. I had never thought of it that way, but if we consider that the Underworld is Hell in mythology, the Earth qualifies. Of course it is here on Earth that we explore the limits of shadow. Consciousness grows by getting to know itself and all its potentials. But our Souls suffer in torment. The Earth suffers with our suffering.
Ego torment is the issue here. We all contribute to the collective hell when we feel afraid, resentful, angry, blaming, and grow those emotions into structures of consciousness, or attitudes. Emotions are meant to stay in motion. A blanket of despair, a chill of terror, a deep loathing, a moment of murderous rage – they pass through to remind us of our wholeness. The problem arises when we attach meaning to emotions and justify them with rationalizations. “I have every right to hate that person for what they did to me,” etc.
Adolescence is the phase in which we make up stories about who we are. We have little experience to work with so we make a lot of dumb choices. We tell ourselves lies to soothe the pain of humiliation. When the ego is in sway, it builds resentment. The ego is preoccupied with itself and nothing else. “What’s in it for me” consciousness. We see it coming out of the mouth of the ex-president.
Resentment in turn creates separation. The ego wants to keep us apart, identified within rigid boundaries, nursing a myth about victimhood and exclusion.
This is Hell – the insatiable collective ego, which is built piece by piece by our personal egos. We have been living in this ego-driven state for thousands of years. It’s a dead-end road – all of us locked in our private inner sanctums on the lookout for intruders.
The chaos in our manifested world will keep building, so keep in mind how transformation works. Energy builds up until the container can no longer hold it. The structure collapses into chaos. But if left alone the process evolves a new structure, stronger and more able to handle the energy.
The energy is available for transcendence. We can lift ourselves out of this murky realm by allowing the process to flow through us. We have had years of preparation. Climate change, increased violence, a pandemic that isolated us even further. Uncertainty is our climate right now, but it is the power of chaotic uncertainty that opens new doors. With Mars conjunct Uranus we can expect some collective shifts in perception. Same in our personal lives. The air is alive with potential.
Venus recently made a conjunction to our natal North Node. That’s our future, blessed by the Divine Feminine. My own natal Venus is conjunct the USA North Node. Now you know why I care so much about saving and growing our democracy. It’s the path of evolution. Clinging to the past brings entropy, devolution. The choice lies forward into the Unknown.
