America is at a tipping point and this month is the fulcrum. We are within six months of meeting our fate as a nation when Pluto returns to his birthplace and we will have chosen our path to the future.
On October 6th, Wednesday morning at 4:05 a.m., the Sun, Moon and Mars come together at 13+ degrees of Libra in the USA 10th House. Just hours later, Pluto sounds the gong, stations direct and begins to move forward again. The work we have done over the last 6 months will come to fruition now, and we must commit fully to the future we want.
Time to Shift the Paradigm
Reality is created from energy. While our collective consciousness is wrestling with matter, the Light Bringers have been embodying the frequency that will shift our world. What do I mean by that? If you’re reading this, you are a Light Bringer. You incarnated for this moment in time when you are needed, to hold the Light, to embody the Love, and to dream the dreams of a peaceful future.
Isn’t it perfect that the planets and luminaries move into the perfect resonance to assist us? We have work to do now and it won’t be easy, but the rewards will be exponential. It’s time to commit. Time to give up our dualistic outlook.
I have been reading the most profound explanation of the evolution of life, all based on frequencies of energy. Treat yourself to a new paradigm and read The Nine Waves of Creation by Carl Johan Calleman. His theory is that creation comes in evolutionary waves from what he calls The World Tree. It’s a metaphor for God or Source or the Cosmic Blueprint. As of 2011 all Nine Waves have arrived and are creating a holographic interference pattern that will result in a shift in the way we understand our reality. We are experiencing things speeding up, because we are coming into resonance with waves 8 and 9, vibrating at a much higher frequency. Wave 8 issued in our Digital Age in 1999. Wave 9 arrived at the end of 2011 and completes our evolution with a return to Unity.
This is the Awakening – tuning into higher frequencies, becoming aware of the truth of who we are and embodying this new spiritual reality. Currently we are addicted to what we believe is reality. What we see in the world is the product of much lower energy frequencies at which conflict occurs – competition, polarization, endless striving to “get ahead.” It includes war, famine, poverty, racial hatred and endless power struggles. Calleman says this is the paradigm of the 6th wave which ushered in Duality and the knowledge of Good and Evil.
Our job now is to surrender to the higher frequencies that are bombarding our planet – energies of Peace, Love, Compassion, Oneness. The world that results from this context will be completely different from our reality right now because once we “see” and resonate with the higher waves, we will treat each other differently. Our values will shift. We will learn to work together for the betterment of all because we will have realized that we are inseparable from the All. Right now we are at the cutting edge of human consciousness. We get to choose the way we evolve – up or down?
The New Moon in Libra
Let’s look at the Astrology. This New Moon is a fresh start with the focus on peace, harmony, justice and balance. The Queen of Libra is Venus, so when the Sun and Moon AND Mars meet in this sign, it can be a love fest. It all depends upon how we express our Martian energy. Mars wants to act. In Libra we can put our love into action. We shift our focus onto others and ask ourselves “How can we make life sweeter for those we love?”
The 10th House is the marketplace so to speak. This is where we interact with one another, get a reputation, have an impact. In the USA natal chart, this New Moon is on our Saturn. reputed to be difficult, but in Libra, with the gentleness of Venus, we can take responsibility for our inner peace.
By now we’ve all been thrown off balance. Libra can help us find our center. Under this influence we can forgo conflict and find resolution. We can appreciate beauty and take time to indulge our creativity. Where called for we can seek justice, because without justice for all, there can be no peace.
Our work for this month is holding the field within which our future gestates. On a personal level, we can be on the alert for separation thoughts – ones that are critical, judgmental, opinionated, aggressive or just plain negative about ourselves or others. We can focus on the refined qualities of the feminine, open to feelings of tenderness and give ourselves moments of beauty, peace and stillness. If you haven’t discovered it yet, there is a streaming App called Nature Relaxation On Demand. A few days ago I watched a 30 minute video called Forests and was warmed by expanses of autumn foliage in its greatest splendor. The photography is astounding. They have multiple videos of drone photography over breathtaking natural landscapes. It’s a beautiful way to meditate.
The symbol for Libra is the balanced scales. According to the myth of Osiris, the soul at death is weighed against a feather. Imagine having a soul that unburdened! Light as a feather.
Mercury opposite Chiron
Less than seven degrees away from the New Moon is Mercury opposite the USA Chiron. In 2024 America will have its Chiron return which happens about every 50 years. We are a wounded nation and there is much healing ahead. We can start that healing on the mental plane, healing our addiction to negative thinking.
There is absolutely no value to negative thinking. It just fortifies the energy that is holding the negativity in place. It keeps us operating on a lower frequency and blocks our happiness. It’s a form of self-abuse. That may sound harsh, but think about what negative thinking does to our health, to our relationships, to our peace of mind.
Libra energy is so fine that it can ease us out of our negativity, but we have to choose it. This year Mercury turned retrograde in all the Air signs, beginning with Aquarius, then Gemini and ending in Libra. Our awareness has expanded. We have had a year’s worth of growth and now we come to reflect upon our relationships, and bring the best of our evolved selves to the world. We tend to take relationships for granted. Family and friends become the backdrop of our lives but every once in a while life reminds us of how precious they are.
A dear friend of mine was killed suddenly ten days ago and I was sucked into the Underworld, into the sobbing temple. For three days we honored his passing and celebrated his life and I came to see what a perfect Aries he had been. Rob lived life in a lively way. Endlessly curious, highly creative, incredibly resilient, living on the edge with fast driving and extreme skiing, seeking the thrill of life.
As the days went by I came to see my friend more clearly and realized how much I had taken for granted. Rob practiced his love – of others, of thrills, of life – every day and his death left an enormous hole because he was such a powerful presence. The last time we spoke he told me he never wanted to get old and my first thought upon hearing the news was, “Well, Rob, you got your wish.”
The week I spent mourning my friend took me to some wonderful new places of appreciation, caring, poignancy. His death brought up all the others I have known. I got to cry my loss. Rob died as he lived and his life was a constant message to all of us to live life to the fullest because it is so precious and can be lost in a flash. He made me want to tend my friendships more and truly love the people in my life. It’s such a Libra lesson!
On October 9th Mercury will conjunct the Sun and begin a new cycle. Watch for themes, listen within, notice synchronicities. Something new is being seeded. I think of Mercury getting recharged complete with a new download from Spirit.
On October 18th Mercury will turn direct just two days before the Full Moon. For a spectacular Full Moon in Aries use these two weeks the way Rob lived life. Commit.
The asteroid Juno is about 6 degrees away from our natal Saturn. Mercury is right on Juno on the New Moon so the focus is on commitment. Juno was the faithful wife of Zeus, and was so committed to her marriage that she overlooked all her husband’s indiscretions. We can get a hit of commitment on this New Moon.
I speak for myself, but perhaps this applies to you as well. I am straddling two worlds and slip easily back into the struggle and squabble of the 6th wave energy. This is the month we stop the straddle.
Venus in Scorpio
Venus on the New Moon is at the 29th degree of Scorpio but enters Sagittarius the next day. She entered Scorpio shortly after the last New Moon in Virgo. Scorpio is the realm of our deepest sub & unconscious. This is the Underworld where all angst awaits. This is where we face ourselves and our darkest shadow and feel our pain. This is our emotional depths where fears and phobias reside. Journeys into this realm are initiatory. We are blessed, meaning wounded as well as rewarded, stripped of our pretense and given a dose of truth.
Sagittarius takes us up out of our darkness with new vision, hopes and dreams based upon a more authentic encounter with the self in Scorpio. This is our journey over the Autumn months as the Sun follows the same path.
On October 9th Venus conjoins the South Node and the waxing Moon. Make a note of this date. What from your past wants to be heard? What feelings does it bring up?
On October 13th Venus reaches her maximum elongation from the Sun. At this point she slows down and the Sun catches up. We will see her descent in the evening sky until she disappears into the Sun’s beams. We will examine this more in coming months.
Pluto Square Eris
The Sun catches up with Mars the day after New Moon and the day after that, October 8th, Pluto Squares Eris. That’s a lot of potentially aggressive energy. We may see flare-ups, marches, protests. Issues are going to heat up and there will be a lot of postulating out there in “reality.” The news will have much to report.
Our challenge is to not get sucked into the drama. It’s a perfect time to practice detachment, witness consciousness, centeredness. This is the fifth and final perfect square of Pluto to Eris. This fearsome twosome has been stirring up trouble, creating chaos, blowing up our reality. So much is on the verge of collapse and painful as that is, it points the way to new solutions.
Remember that Eris reveals our ego issues, our defenses, and strips us down to our essential selves. She demands authenticity. Eris fights for equality, for a world where everyone has a seat at the table. We need her to help rebuild, once the dissolution phase is over. As we become more authentic, we find we have more effective tools available to us – inner guidance and strength, wisdom and compassion to make wise choices, courage to carry them out.
Moving Forward
Several retrograde phases are coming to a close this month. As I mentioned, Pluto turns direct on the New Moon October 6th. Saturn does the same thing on October 10th, Jupiter on October 17th and finally Mercury on the 18th. The first three are in the 2nd House asking us to be clear about our values. Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius emphasize the importance of thinking about the welfare of humanity. We can no longer think only of self.
If you feel like you’ve been swimming against the current, you will be pleased to learn that the flow will reverse this month and things will start moving again. We have been in a gridlock for months wondering when the wheels of justice will turn. They should turn faster this month. Libra is about justice. With Venus in Sagittarius, we are seeking truth as well.
Finally I want to mention that Sun, Moon and Mars are trine Ceres. We can’t forget Mother Earth. Ceres is crossing the USA Descendant suggesting that we look at the health of our relationship with nature. Do we take time to be nurtured by it? Do we see it only as a nuisance or a resource? Are we finally going to give up our addiction to oil as once again we see its devastating impact on the California coast?
Ceres is about nurturing. How do we nurture our wounded selves? Our friends and closest family? Our values?
The New Moon is also quincunx Uranus. There will be a lot of change this month, but we won’t be able to see it clearly because most of it will take place within and will start to unfold when Uranus turns direct next January. Nevertheless we can sense it and support it with our commitment.
The next two weeks will build to a climax on the Full Moon in Aries. Hold your intention, don’t get sucked into the fray and focus on resonating with the higher frequencies of peace and compassion. When we are tempted to react with anger or defensiveness, we can take a step back and remember how important this relationship is and how grateful we are to have this person in our life.
Hopefully I’ll be back for the Full Moon. I’m waiting for the hospital to schedule a procedure. Until then, here’s the calendar of key dates for the next two weeks:
