You may be wondering why I’m spending so much time on invisible points in space. 96% of the universe is unseen. We live in a dimension of material manifestation. We’ve learned to believe our eyes and turn our backs on the unknown, the unseen, the invisible. We think we know something. All of us together know 4% of reality. It’s humbling.
In the last chapter we looked at the moon’s nodes currently traveling through Capricorn (South) and Cancer (North). Saturn over the next few weeks is headed for an exact conjunction with the moon’s south node which will take place on the 4th of July. Just in case the symbolism isn’t clear, America is due for a wake-up call.
This meeting of Saturn and the moon’s south node is the preamble to the main event which takes place in 2020. It signals an intensification of Capricorn energies which will continue to build throughout 2019. Before we take a look at this event, however, I want to introduce two more players on this crowded stage.
The ecliptic, as you recall, is the apparent path of the sun around Earth – what we see from our point of view – but in actuality, it is the path of Earth around the sun. Symbolically this orbit represents the relationship between the Earth, our home and support system, and the Sun which is Earth’s life force.
Like the moon, all planets have orbits that meet the ecliptic at two opposing points intersecting the relationship between Earth and Sun. These vortices of energy are where the planets have the greatest impact. The South Nodes of both Pluto and Saturn are conjunct in Capricorn at 22 degrees. On January 12, 2020, Pluto and Saturn will meet each other at precisely this degree. This is the important point – Pluto and Saturn together will enter the energy vortices of their own nodes. We don’t know what this will trigger. We do know the energies will be intense.
One of the most profound astrological thinkers of all time, Dane Rudhyar, believed that the nodes of a planet are more important than the planet itself because they describe the entire orbit, not just a temporary location in space. The moon’s nodes accumulate a month of experience in her orbit. Saturn’s nodes store up 28-30 years, while Pluto’s orbit takes 248-250 years. The South Node of Pluto holds 250 years of the world’s accumulated experience. That’s the entire history of the United States! I believe it’s fair to say that 250 years of karma come due in 2020 for the USA.
I know this section on the nodes is a bit challenging, but stick with me, because they play a key role in Earth’s unfolding story. We can’t understand the import of 2020 without them. Never before in all of recorded history have these two powerful, karmic planets conjoined their own nodes in Capricorn. When this conjunction takes place on January 12, 2020, there will be a reckoning.
I don’t tell you this to frighten you. I tell you because I want to prepare you and, furthermore, to enlist you in mitigating the influence of this event. We have 7 months before this conjunction happens in which to shift its impact. So far I have laid out the “bad” news, the most serious part of this event, but trust me, there is good news as well. There are allies rushing to the rescue. When January comes around, Pluto and Saturn will be joined by Jupiter, the Sun, Mercury, Ceres and Chariklo, a centaur, consort of Chiron, the mentor and healer of Greco-Roman mythology.
There is great potential for healing, spiritual growth and insight. There will be change and transformation. What manifests depends upon the resonance of the energy being vibrated into the world. If we can bring forth our awareness, caring, love, trust and faith, we can mitigate the potential negative consequences of this rite of passage for our planet.
Sounds like a huge undertaking. It is. That’s what makes it worthwhile. These are mythic times that call for heroes. It’s time to step up to the plate.
Don’t worry – we are not in this alone. First of all there are literally millions of us right now who are meditating, opening our hearts, awakening and becoming enlightened as we bring our values and principles into our daily lives. These soul mates are taking responsibility for their piece of this gigantic puzzle. And that is all that is required from each of us to change the world.
It takes a great leap of faith. Jupiter right now is meandering through Sagittarius asking the big questions, seeking to expand our understanding of Truth with a capital T. He lends us his unconditional faith. He gives us strength, and optimism with visions of a better future.
Ceres, symbol of our Mother Earth, lends comfort. She has the same agenda. This asteroid goddess will also be at 22 degrees Capricorn conjunct Pluto/Saturn in January 2020 – her future is riding on this as well.
Chariklo will nurture us as Chiron helps us heal our wounds.
We will talk about all these allies, and more, in future posts, but let’s look at the North Node. We’re clear that the South Node represents the past, what we brought into this life to work on, how we were conditioned in our family homes, our schools and workplaces. The South Node holds the wounds and mistaken beliefs that keep us tied to cycles of death and rebirth, wounding and healing, stumbling and falling. That’s where our self-healing work lies.
The North Node, however, represents potential – the aim of evolution in this life time – the highest self you could become if you heal the past and keep your eyes on the goal. This is true for each one of us and it’s true for our country as well. We’ll be looking at the birth chart of the United States frequently because an even bigger event happens in 2022 when Pluto returns to its home in the USA natal chart at 27+ degrees of Capricorn. Pluto is growing closer to home. His approach is triggering a collective foreboding. As the energy builds, so does our fear.
That brings us to Cancer. The North Nodes of the moon, of Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto are all in Cancer, opposite Capricorn. Cancer represents our home where we like to feel safe and secure. The shadow side of Cancer is insecurity. The antidote is the maturity, responsibility and power of Capricorn. Conversely, the shadow side of Capricorn is control and domination. The positive side of Cancer – deep feelings, nurturing, intuition, motherly love – expressions of feminine energy – are the antidote to Capricorn excesses. We’ll explore this more next time as we begin to examine the USA chart and the American psyche.
