I wish with all my heart that you could see what I see through the lens of astrology. I am feeling inadequate to the task of helping you see how important a time we live in, how we are in the midst of a Great Transformation, as individuals, as a nation, as a humanity. The whole world is poised right now between a glorious evolution and a tragic waste.
All around the world, governments are in upheaval, people are being displaced, climates are shifting and becoming uninhabitable, the refugee count is rising, war is ravaging the planet and the lives of hundreds of thousands. The tension is becoming unbearable. And this is only the beginning.
In the meantime, the planets are aligning to midwife our birth into a higher state of consciousness, into a spiritual awareness of our one and only race – the human race – on our one and only home – beloved Mother Earth. The message is clear. We must grow up, we must take responsibility for ourselves and for what we are doing to each other and to the world. We MUST. It’s the only choice. The alternative is extinction.
The way this Evolution happens is through each one of us doing the work, cleaning up our psychic baggage, healing our wounds, freeing ourselves from conditioned beliefs and enlisting for service. We each have something to offer, a talent the world needs now. We have a role to play. We can no longer worry about our private lives. We need to think globally.
On November 11 and 12 the Heavens shower us with illumination. On Monday, Mercury transits the Sun. The Griffith Observatory will be broadcasting this event beginning at 6:15 a.m. Pacific time. The next transit visible from Los Angeles will be in 2049. You might not want to wait. All you’ll see is a tiny black dot crossing an orange background, but if you are willing to linger a while and exercise your imagination you will receive a message from Mercury himself. This tiny planet is soaking up solar energy for its next trip around the sun.
When Mercury is conjunct the Sun in retrograde motion, it is closest to the Earth. As it makes its station it appears to stand still. The former cycle comes to an end and a new Mercury synodic cycle begins with a new idea, a new theme, a new focus for your mind. If you listen carefully you can hear his whisper. Write it down because Mercury is illusive. What is the worthy focus of your mind this month? What is calling for attention? What is impatient to be born? Summon up your curiosity, the engine of the intellect, and pose some questions. Then track the progress of this theme over the next 120 days in your journal. Mercury will still be retrograde, going deeper into unknown territory until it makes its station and turns direct on November 20th. The answers will slowly unveil over the next four months. Trust me, you will want to have this journal a year from now. You will want to have a record of your amazing growth.
116-120 days is the length of a Mercury cycle. This cycle takes us into 2020 and, within that time, Saturn will make its conjunction with Pluto. Karma comes due but transformation is possible. It all begins now with Mercury moving into Scorpio’s depths, uncovering buried secrets, releasing painful memories. The more inner work we do between now and January 12th, the easier this passage will be for us. 2020 is our final exam, so to speak. It will be the year the world changes, and how it changes will be up to us. We must vote with our lives, our values, our convictions, our heads and hearts and hands. If something is nagging at us, if a relationship is breaking our heart, if we have unfinished business, amends to make, NOW is the time to heal the pain, let go and surrender to the energy that wants to carry us into a better future.
So pay attention to your thoughts – they have power, especially right now. Connect with your heart and its wisdom. Cultivate innocence. We all think we know what’s going on right now, but our very knowing is blocking the Unknown from guiding us. Admit to yourself, “I don’t know.” It is very liberating, not to mention, it is also the truth. Find the place in your consciousness where the unknown lies and focus on that. Meditate on that for the next few months. Open to the unknown and welcome new insights. Mercury has an important role to play in the USA 2020 drama. Mindfulness will be required.
Above all, do not succumb to fear. This is the true enemy. When Fear begins to whisper, seek refuge in your heart wherein lie courage and compassion. Do not cultivate disaster visions. Do not think up worst case scenarios to enhance personal drama. What you envision has the power to manifest. Envision your most positive future, the most perfect world in which we all thrive.
Mindfulness requires discipline. That’s Saturn’s province. Call upon Saturn to strengthen your resolve to become more awake, aware and present to the moment. This is the point of power where the thoughts we think, the choices we make, forge the future we will face.
Mercury makes its solar crossing on Monday. Less than 24 hours later we have a powerful new moon. Look for another post soon about this enlightening event.
