Monday, March 9th, is the Full Moon. If you recall, at the New Moon in Pisces I suggested that the Cosmos was supporting a Spring Cleaning. Pisces asks us to let go, to surrender to our true selves – the self we have always been and will always be. We call it Soul which is a lovely name for our Essence. What stands in the way, between our current ego consciousness and spiritual connection to Soul, is all the accumulated conditioning, all the wounds and suffering and struggle, all the resentments, self-condemnation, heartache, and the story we made up to explain it on the way.
I suggested emptying out all the outworn debris of our lives and preparing for a rebirth. Spring is only a couple of weeks away. It’s a new start. Life will be fresh again. Take a good look at your baggage. Do you really want to carry that around for another year? You might want to read my New Moon post again to align yourself with the potential of this Full Moon in Virgo.
The New Moon is a seeding time. The plans you made, the choices and decisions that you followed through on, will now pay off. At the Full Moon we reap the harvest. The more we have emptied ourselves out since the New Moon, the more room there will be for abundance.
Virgo is the sign of the harvest. She’s frequently pictured as a maiden holding shafts of wheat in her arms. It is Virgo’s job to sift through the harvest and separate the wheat from the chaff. This is why she endows us with discernment, with the ability to see the tiny details, to move us into the territory where we can interact with the stuff of creation.
We’ve all heard “God is in the details.” This old adage suggests that there is treasure to be found when we pay more attention, when we really focus our minds in this present moment and apprehend reality on a deeper level. We begin to see things we had overlooked, clues to a lot of the questions we have been asking ourselves.
Virgo offers self-discovery through discernment. As the Moon waxes into fullness, watch for flashes of insight, bits of new information, intriguing ideas. Pay attention to what can be improved. What little bits can be tossed away, what pieces fit into a bigger puzzle. The more you pay attention and bring yourself into full presence, the greater the harvest of understanding, acceptance and ultimately gratitude for all that life has given.
The Zodiacal signs work in polarities – pairs of opposites. They function to continually show us both perspectives. Their relationship is like that of the Full Moon. They serve to fully illuminate the path. Virgo is the half-way point around the Zodiac. Pisces is at the end. Virgo represents an involution – a movement of consciousness into the physical dimension. Pisces represents the culmination of an evolution – a returning to source. Virgo therefore is key to enlightenment. As consciousness penetrates the physical realm it breaks through to the spiritual. Round and round we go, year after year, bathed by cosmic energies that provide a context for growth and evolution.
For those of us in the USA, the Full Moon occurs in the 9th house – the domain of higher thought, spiritual aspiration, the search for truth and ultimately faith. Our faith is being stretched to its limits, and that’s the test for all of us. Can we keep our faith in the benevolence of the universe? In the goodness of humanity? Can we find it within ourselves? The Coronavirus is just one more indication that our world is sick and we are in peril. No one of us can heal the world, but each of us can heal him/herself and contribute to the health of humanity and our beloved planet. This is the best we can do for ourselves and each other.
At the Full Moon the Sun will be conjunct Neptune, ruler of Pisces. Neptune’s energy washes back and forth like the tides, wiping out the footprints in the sand, slowly sculpting the landscape, eating away at the rocks, depositing little treasures from the sea. Think of Virgo sifting through the sands and finding these gems. The Moon is about receptivity. For the next few days allow yourself to receive and use your discernment to spot the treasures. We are awash in spiritual energy.
A few hours after the Full Moon, Mercury turns direct, assisting our discernment by releasing some of the insights from his retrograde period. After three weeks of reflection, he’s ready to deliver some messages.
And there are more gifts – Venus is conjunct Uranus in the 5th house. You might discover new ways to express your love creatively, or a new way to communicate. You might experience a shift in a relationship. Venus is bringing peace, harmony, sensuality and pleasure.
Meanwhile, Chiron is applying his healing arts to Black Moon Lilith – the original, powerful feminine energy. This much-maligned aspect of the Feminine is up for release. Our paradigm still doesn’t have room for powerful women, especially when they expose rot and corruption in our midst. Many of us regret the loss of Elizabeth Warren in her presidential run. The last woman. The last shred of diversity, last hope for a woman president. Elizabeth gave her all. What courage she demonstrated for us! She spoke her truth. She fought with all her heart. Whether we agree with her policies or not, we can take her Lilith power into our own hearts and let the courage incubate.
Chiron and Lilith are at the beginning of Aries initiating a new era of healing for the feminine energy. We are making progress, despite the onslaught of conservative attacks on our rights. In January Virginia became the 38th state to ratify the ERA but now several states want to change their vote. If you live in Idaho, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kentucky or Tennessee, call or write your state Senators and Representatives and express support for the ERA.
Twelve states have voted against the ERA. These include Utah, Arizona, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina and Florida. If you are a resident of these states, speak up. Isn’t it time women had equal rights with men? Can you even believe that we don’t?
A third pair in conjunction are Vesta and Sedna in late Taurus. Vesta represents devotion. She tends the sacred flame, preserving our connection to Spirit and keeping our faith alive. Sedna is the new outer limit of our solar system. I see her as the new boundary of a greatly expanded awareness. Her discovery opens up greater space for our consciousness to evolve. I see Sedna as a symbol of Awakening and Enlightenment. These two goddesses are residing in the USA 6th house which has to do with our daily lives. Can we bring more awareness to our moments throughout the day? Can we open to receive the energies of devotion? Can we witness more signs of the presence of Spirit in our busy lives? Can we wake up just a little bit more each day?
Finally, the transiting nodal axis of the moon is running through the USA natal Jupiter, meaning that our faith is aligned with the future. The North Node is opening a gateway to the unknown. Jupiter offers growth and expansion. Whatever we release into Jupiter’s energy flow will increase, so be clear about your intent.
Jupiter will play a leading role in the upcoming weeks as it moves toward a conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn. As I said, Jupiter expands things, be they creative or destructive. We will look at this event more carefully next week. In the meantime I wish you all a weekend full of light and love and a lot of fun.
