Well here we are in the 2020’s! I wish you all a courageous journey on our way to a glorious prize.
I hope you had a meaningful holiday filled with love and reconnection. I was blessed to have both of my daughters visit and to feel how much our family has evolved in the last two decades. Witnessing the healing of wounds and re-flowering of love between us, has strengthened my faith in the future.
Christmas Day was also the New Moon in Capricorn, so aligned with the Sun that it caused an eclipse. Eclipses metaphorically introduce us to darkness. The Sun by which we live – the source of our life – is blocked temporarily from sight. A great shadow crosses over its surface and across the land below. In ancient times, eclipses were seen as harbingers of misfortune, signaling the death of kings and unrest in the kingdom.
Modern psychologists and many astrologers see eclipses as an opportunity to face the darkness that lies within each of us. In our conditioned society we have learned to fear the dark, to resist going into it because it is unknown and filled with demons. One of the big breakthroughs in the evolution of human consciousness was the realization that the “dark” of the subconscious is a treasure-trove of information with clues about ourselves that explain why our lives are in such turmoil.
We are in an eclipse season right now and if we listen to the lessons beaming to us from the cosmos, we will heed the call to venture within. We will go on an expedition into the unknown seeking information and insight. Within this realm lie all the suppressed emotions, unresolved conflicts, painful experiences that we just couldn’t handle at the time along with all the things we were told as children about how life works and how to behave. Our conditioning by parents, teachers, social and political leaders, the “system” we all live in. In the subconscious lie the sources of all the beliefs we have about ourselves and our world. Most of them are false, or at least faulty. We drew conclusions about the world and ourselves from our painful childhood and adolescent experiences and these conclusions are blocking the light. They are dictating what we think and how we deal with others. In other words, they run our lives, often into a brick wall. It’s time to dispatch old business. We can’t afford to carry this baggage into the future and it is hampering our effectiveness in the present.
We are fast approaching the notorious conjunction of Saturn and Pluto on January 12th. Over the next few weeks we will be examining the significance of this cosmic event and looking into what the future could hold for us if we meet the challenge of the two Lords of Darkness. Saturn is stimulating our need for integrity. Pluto is urging us to let go of what no longer serves us, to surrender to change and allow ourselves to evolve, to expand our consciousness and awaken to the truth of our Oneness with All That Is.
Furthermore, our Mother Earth – symbolized by the dwarf planet, Ceres – will be front and center squeezed between Saturn and Pluto, all at 22 degrees of Capricorn. What is at stake is more than our politics, more than our economy, more than health care or personal problems. The viability of life on Earth hangs in the balance. The way it tips depends on all of us – the choices we make, the actions we take, the spirit with which we live and the values we hold dear in our hearts. What could be more valuable than life on our viable planet? Is humanity willing to commit suicide by continuing to pollute and prey upon the very source of its existence?
Throughout this year Jupiter will put our faith to the test. Mars will face down our fear and strengthen our courage. Are we willing to surrender our world to dictators? Are we still willing to spend our lives chasing the dollar? Will we agree to endless conflict, competition, corruption, injustice, hatred and violence? These are the questions we must all ask ourselves this year. What kind of world do we want to live in? What is precious and sacred? How can we protect it?
At the end of this year, Jupiter and Saturn will come together to inaugurate a new phase of social evolution. The exact conjunction is at zero degrees of Aquarius, in my mind launching the Age of Aquarius in spirit. Aquarius is the sign of humanity. Its positive expression is cooperation, cocreation, and concern for the welfare of all. The choices we make this year will determine what we take into the next 20 years.
On June 28, 1914 the Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated in Sarajevo. This act triggered World War I, taking the lives of millions. Saturn was approaching its conjunction with Pluto at the time. A few days ago, our president ordered the assassination of an Iranian general. We don’t yet know what this act has precipitated. Iran may exact revenge which would further escalate a conflict that could blow up into WW III. This is the darkest possible scenario and we must do everything in our power to prevent it.
While it is chilling to think of history repeating itself, it is even more chilling to consider the consequences if we-the-people don’t stop it. It is time to become proactive politically. We must demand that Congress stop this from escalating into war. Our first test is upon us. I urge you to contact your representatives and demand they prevent a war. Write to your local newspaper. Speak out on your favorite social media. We can vote now with our voices. There is no leeway for apathy. We are being asked to take a stand. Heed the call.
