In an act of sheer irony, three days before our nation celebrates its independence and freedom from tyranny, the Supreme Court has destroyed the rule of law. In a 6 to 3 vote, they pretended to give Donald Trump partial immunity for official acts while in office. But the “partial” part is a hair-split away from total. It will be up to the lower courts to determine what is official. There’s still a sliver of hope.
I think we are all shocked by this rogue court, formerly the most respected body in our government, now the handmaiden of a felonious politician. This court has been exposed for bias, misdemeanors and felonies, but they have supreme power. Their decisions are final. What does that sound like to you? Sounds like Oligarchy to me, government by the few, a small and privileged group for corrupt or selfish purposes. It’s one step away from a dictatorship.
With uncanny foresight, the “Conservative” Judges paved the way for corruption to creep deeper, into the core of our society, by asserting that bribes are now legal, as long as they’re accepted after the incident, but not before. So you can’t premeditate the acceptance of a bribe, nor collect beforehand, but you can accept it when you’ve fulfilled your share of the bargain. Really? It’s all a matter of timing? Just postpone the bribe and relabel it as a gratuity?
The case before the court involved a former mayor of Portage, Indiana who accepted $13,000 from Great Lakes Peterbuilt in return for lucrative contracts. The town council suspected bribery, but James Snyder said, “No, they’re consultation fees.” How political crooks can stretch definitions! It all boils down to word games. Snyder was found guilty in Indiana, case #666, just in case we missed the evil simmering at the borders of our law. Snyder appealed his case all the way to the Supreme Court, and they gave him the nod. We’re galloping toward Third World status. That’s how banana republics operate.
The more I have thought about this, the more I have come to realize how our society is being manipulated to abandon democracy. As I understand it, the mission to stack the court began back in the Reagan era. That goal was achieved when Obama was denied his right to nominate a candidate, and Trump added three sycophants, one of whom was a sexual abuser like Clarence Thomas. “Conservatives,” for want of a truer word, have the power. The Supreme Court is now our current ruling body. They are not supporting the Constitution, they’re rewriting it. They’re breaking our original agreement, just like credit card companies do with regularity.
Furthermore, I now see the mechanism that keeps it running. I’ve always known that the Supreme Court chose the cases it wanted to hear, but it never occurred to me that our “justices” were unjust, guiding our nation, through their rulings, preparing the way for the new age dictator. They pick the cases that will allow them to compromise democracy. The big question is “What can we to do about it?”
New Moon in Cancer
The day after all the hotdogs, hamburgers and beer have been consumed and the fireworks blown up into colorful displays, the Moon catches up with the Sun at 14:23 Cancer. The two luminaries are conjunct the fixed star Sirius which is said to be the spiritual Sun of our own Sun. Sirius is at 14:24 Cancer, one minute away from the New Moon. And of course, being so close to the 4th of July, they are all conjunct our natal Sun which is part of a stellium including Venus and Jupiter. The focus is on our birth as a nation, on the dream of freedom and equality, on the destiny of America to bring Democracy to the world, enabling a new consciousness to be born, a new paradigm to guide humanity into a higher frequency.
Sirius is a binary star, conjunct the Sun of the USA. It’s found by following the sword of Orion, three descending stars pointing to the brightest star in the night sky – Sirius, once worshipped in Egyptian times as the holder of deep mystery and spiritual power. This is the guiding star of our nation, highlighting our destiny. Sirius is moving toward our own solar system and over the next 60,000 years, will increase in brightness. Eventually it will only be visible in the Southern Hemisphere, slowly fading as the brightest star in our sky, to be replaced by Vega.
Exactly opposite the New Moon in our 7th House is Ceres in the 1st. in Capricorn. We are meant to tend our garden – our beautiful planet. We are meant to nurture and defend, to provide comfort and safety, to rescue our daughters and protect them. Interesting synchronicity of Jupiter exactly conjunct the asteroid Proserpina, Ceres’ daughter, also conjunct our natal Uranus in our 6th House. Women’s healthcare is under the spotlight. Women’s rights to their own bodies have been kidnapped by the Black Robes and taken into their Underworld.
Ceres is the only dwarf planet in the inner solar system, misdiagnosed as an asteroid. Ceres brings cosmic issues down to Earth. In a way she’s the messenger from the Plutonians and Kuiper Belt objects. Among other characteristics, she seems to carry activist energy, and inspired Victorian women to fight for the right to vote. Many suffragettes had prominent Ceres placements and were willing to go to jail and suffer abuse for their convictions.
The New Moon also forms a cardinal T-square with our natal Saturn in Libra, emphasizing both authoritarian energy and the need to preserve justice. Another irony in the face of our corrupt court. With this Saturn placement, we should be seeking and maintaining balance, bringing in the gentle energies of the Feminine, upholding liberty and justice for all. We are so far off the track that our democracy is teetering on the cliff’s edge. This T-square warns us that our karmic debt will come due, especially since the South Node of the Moon has recently passed over it.
Furthermore, this New Moon is trine retrograde Saturn in Pisces, doubling Saturn’s influence. Saturn can assist in building new social structures that better suit our evolved awareness.
I wrote about Cancer in my last newsletter. You can find it on my website. This lunar cycle is critical in so many ways. It comes on the heels of the first presidential debate in which Biden was overwhelmed by a barrage of lies so blatant that he didn’t know which one to address first. Turns out this is a form of gaslighting called a “Gish Gallop,” a technique to disarm and confuse one’s opponent. Trump was well schooled, making outrageous claims, creating false statistics, taking credit for Biden’s accomplishments and blaming him for his own failings. We must not forget Joe’s four years of successful governance, rescuing our country from the Trump years, restoring our economy and supporting the working class. As Governor Newsome said, “You don’t abandon someone for one bad performance.”
In two weeks the Moon will be full again and this time the lunar axis lights up Pluto. If you think Saturn is a task master, wait until Pluto takes the spotlight.
Retrogrades
Pluto went retrograde back in May. Saturn followed on June 30th. On July 2nd Neptune made its station and Chiron turns retrograde on July 22nd, remaining frozen in place for the last week of the month. On July 16th Mercury enters its shadow, the degree to which it will return at the end of its retrograde period which begins August 4th.
We are being given some space and time to pause and reassess. These coming dog days are for rest and reflection. We are fortunate to live in an affluent country, to have an abundance of creative thinkers, to own the power of choice. Our responsibility is to choose the people who represent us. The election is only four months away, and no matter how we wish the mess would all go away, it’s up to us pay attention.
We can see, under spotlights, a man whose only interest is himself and what he can get out of it. Now that bribes are legal, imagine how Trump could turn the presidency into a money-making machine – selling pardons, favors, even state secrets. We cannot possibly expect him to consider our welfare. We don’t even exist in his reality. He has not hidden the fact that he wants to be dictator. That he will pardon the people who carried out his insurrection. That he will pull out of NATO and sever ties with our allies, switching his allegiance to Russia and eventually China – the new axis of evil. He has said he will punish every one of his enemies – and there are many. He will put men in place to serve his own power and profit, lower taxes for the wealthy and place increasing burdens on the working class. As for women, don’t believe he wants to protect you. He doesn’t give a sneeze about you.
That’s only the tip of the iceberg of devastation this candidate will wreak. The slim possibility of saving our environment will be dashed. Corporations will get permission to do whatever makes the most money – clear cut our forests, mine our mountains, dump their refuse in our waters and pump noxious gases into our air. It’s the path of extinction. And the USA will become a Christian state, with Trump as the “ayatollah.” How’s that for irony? Think what it will mean for women.
We’ve all heard, and probably said it ourselves, “I’m sick of politics.” And that’s because it has become so ugly, so self-serving, so corrupt. But politics is about agreements on how we all will live together. We have strayed far from the original intent, and I think it’s because of runaway Capitalism and greed for power. We can change that.
So what are we going to do about the Supreme Court’s attack on democracy? We have only one clear path. We must not only re-elect Joe Biden, but we must take back the House of Representatives. This is the only body with the authority to subpoena and impeach Supreme Court justices, our only hope to break up their tyranny.
Pay attention to local candidates. This is where the corruption starts. Conservatives have been packing the courts around the country and filling state congresses with their cronies. We’re all sick of politics, of war, of rancor, but it will not end unless we put a stop to it and exercise the power given us by our Constitution to determine our fate.
I’m still in LA but hoping to head home in another week. Happy 4th. Remember what we are celebrating. Remember those who sacrificed to secure our freedom. We have so much to be thankful for, including the visionary spirit of our forefathers.
