I am making some adjustments to Good News Mondays. I am feeling the need to focus on “What’s Going On.” This is where my heart is. It’s why I started this blog, trying to fathom what’s going on in our world as the current speeds up, rushing us into the Unknown. I’m trying to navigate this passage toward the best possible outcome, and I want to share it with you, to inspire you to dream your own brightest future.
When I was in my 20’s I was fortunate enough to take riding lessons from a wise old crone. She was the only woman in the world to be allowed into the Spanish Riding School. Her wealthy family had rescued the Lipizzaners during World War II and Deb was allowed to train with the riders. She learned to think like a horse. She was one with the horse. She taught me to expand my awareness, to feel and direct my energy, to become the horse, but not without some dumps and bruises.
One day I was riding a big old chestnut, a good jumper but not inclined to do more than was asked of him. We were galloping an outdoor course, up and down hills, jumping obstacles. I was focusing on my hands, my knees and heels. As I approached the next jump I realized it was an enormous tree trunk, perhaps 4 feet high and solid. I screwed up my courage and urged my horse forward. Two seconds before we were to take off, he planted his feet and I flew into that ever-so-solid tree.
I got my breath back, checked for broken bones, remounted and headed back to the barn. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself and expecting sympathy when I saw Deb. She had her hands planted on her hips and her eyes narrowed. “You were looking at the fence!” she bellowed. I was shocked, hurt, thinking ‘of course I was looking at the fence. It was enormous.’ She held my eyes and spoke slowly. “Don’t ever look at the fence. Look where you intend to land.”
That juicy bit of wisdom has counseled me well and I think it’s time to dust it off and put it back into practice. The “fence” in this case is the crisis we are facing worldwide, and while I think it’s important to be aware of what’s happening, it’s even more important to have a vision of where we intend to land.
The beauty of astrology is that it opens doors to imagination. It reveals information according to what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for proof that we’re screwed, you’ll find it, but does that help? We’re looking with the intention of discovering the highest potential of what could be. If we can see it, imagine it, we can create it.
I believe in Us. I know that we have amazing resourcefulness, creativity, good will, sincere intent, big, loving hearts. I want to throw in a sense of humor, too, because we have to keep laughing at the absurdity. I know that if we pull together, we can do amazing things. We have the opportunity to create Heaven on Earth. There is no limit to the good we could do, the beauty we could create, the truth we can embody.
The bottom line is that it’s up to Us. We can’t sit around through another election cycle waiting for a government to do it for us. Those days are over. We need to find a way to wake up enough, to care enough and to believe in ourselves enough to assume the mantle of power.
So for the next few weeks I thought Good News Mondays, GNM for short, will be more like a weekly cheering session. We’re coming into “Eclipse Season.” Planets are turning retrograde. Difficult aspects are intensifying. I thought perhaps I could keep you abreast of the weekly astrological events and offer some suggestions on how to make the best of them. So let’s begin.
Today is the full moon in Sagittarius. From now on I’ll talk about where it is in the USA chart. This full moon floats through the first house shining its brightest light on our identity as a nation. Jupiter is here too – Jupiter, the planet of growth, expansion, abundance – spending a year vacationing in his favorite sign, seeking truth. Jupiter is asking “How are you underestimating yourself? Is this the best you can do? Could we do better?”
Jupiter is square Neptune, a 90 degree aspect, activating our imagination. Jupiter rules Sagittarius symbolized by the centaur shooting an arrow into the heavens. He is aiming at a distant star. His gaze is steady, his aim true. He is half animal, but he aspires to more. He has dreams for humanity.
This is the optimum time to dream, to develop a vision. The great news is that this full moon is conjunct the Galactic Center, a rare opportunity to receive insights from the spiritual heart of our galaxy. I found this description on the Astrology Club website:
“The Galactic Center, which sits at the center of our Milky Way Galaxy, is the source of energetic particles that bathe the Earth. With the recent years of the Sun being fairly quiet and Earth’s magnetic field weakening a bit, these energetic particles (infrared and gamma particles) have been able to make their way into the Earth’s energy field. These particles are thought to open up the sub-conscious mind, urging us to both release old emotional wounds and traumas and also to engage our New Paradigm roles. In fact, the Galactic Center acts as a transmitter of Divine Consciousness.”
The full moon takes place at 1:33 a.m. PDT, one degree away from our Galactic Center. No doubt it will fertilize your nighttime dreams, but it can also inform your developing vision. The full moon only happens in Sagittarius once a year, but rarely on the Galactic Center – maybe never again in our lifetime. With Jupiter expanding these energies, this moon is a cosmic gift. Next year Jupiter will have left Sagittarius and joined the gang in Capricorn. He will carry our dreams to Saturn and Pluto. He won’t be back in Sagittarius for another 12 years. It would be a shame to miss all the enlightenment pouring forth from this full moon.
May I suggest you take some quiet time today. Close your eyes and feel into Jupiter – the largest planet in our solar system. Open to him – he has tremendous energy to share – breathe it in. Ask, where am I underestimating myself? What would be my ideal future? What would be my dream for the world? How can I help? Imagine those galactic rays penetrating to your core. What truth will they bring? Go outdoors after dark and look at the full moon. Sagittarius is the sign of faith. Allow yourself to be bathed in it. Ask for more faith in yourself. Drink it in.
Next Friday is the Summer Solstice. The Sun enters Cancer where our nation’s sun lies. With Neptune turning retrograde the same day, we are being asked to look within. To introspect. Surrender to its call. The Solstice is a perfect time for ritual. Perform an act of devotion to signal your willingness to get in step with the cosmos. Honor the light and give thanks.
I leave you with this inspiring video and musical performance by Leonard Cohen. Let it lift your dreams.
