“Genes DO NOT control biology,” Bruce Lipton, M.D.
I am excited to share with you the amazing, ground-breaking, life-enhancing work of Bruce Lipton. He is known as the “Father of Epigenetics.” What is that? It’s a new biological science that liberates us from the false belief that genes control our health.
Once researchers cracked the genetic code, they taught us to believe that our health was predestined by our genetic makeup. We have lived in fear that some errant or damaged gene may suddenly turn on and give us cancer, or ALS. More and more people today are submitting to genetic testing and becoming victims of the results. You hear people say, “I have the gene for cancer. I got it from my mother.” Women are actually having their breasts removed prematurely because “cancer runs in their family” even though there is no sign of it in their own bodies.
The good news is that genes do not cause anything – not cancer, not heart disease, not diabetes. Genes are blueprints. Think of building a house. The blueprints do not turn on and create a house. Houses appear because builders follow the blueprint and turn materials into houses through their labor. In a similar way, your body is built, on a daily basis, by proteins (builders) from the nutrients (materials) in your blood stream. The strength of a building or the health of a body lies in the quality of the building blocks.
Back in 1967, shortly after the genetic code was cracked, Bruce Lipton discovered that the behavior of proteins and the kind of cells they build, depends upon the environment in which they operate. This environment consists of the nutrients in our blood, as well as the toxins. The most important ingredient, however, is belief and the thoughts that support it. Dr. Lipton lays out this groundbreaking discovery in his book The Biology of Belief. It’s a great read, but you can listen to this book through Audible, or check out this YouTube video.
In essence, we create our health, or illness, through our thoughts. Repetitive negative thinking, along with the emotions it causes such as fear, anger, resentment, self-pity, and helplessness, poisons the environment in which proteins build our bodies. Negative thoughts are as toxic as the chemicals that poison our air, water and soil.
That may sound like bad news to you, but the good news is that you can change your thoughts, you can change your beliefs, and you can control your health. The power lies in you to create a healthy relationship with your body which is fully equipped to heal itself.
I also recommend a short interview on YouTube in which Dr. Lipton discusses the role of pharmaceutical companies in controlling the medical narrative. They don’t want you to know you can heal yourself. They want you to buy their drugs. The shocking news is that 300,000 people die each year from the “side-effects” of pharmaceutical drugs. Only 30,000 die from illegal substances. Ask yourself if we’re fighting the right war.
Another pioneer on the medical front is Dr. Joe Dispenza who teaches us how to take charge of our health and longevity. In this video he discusses the placebo effect, the key to self-healing. His book, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One, lays out a blueprint of self-empowerment and provides the tools to change our thoughts and feelings and consequently, our health. A constant repetition of negative thoughts wires patterns into our brains which create habits, develop attitudes and moods and evolve into addictions. We can literally become addicted to depression, rage, resentment, fear. Dr. Joe shows us how to break out of this destructive cycle and reclaim our power.
The next edition of Good News Mondays will be on May 13. Maybe you can discover, or create some good news of your own next week. If so, we’d love to hear about it. In the meantime, consider watching “What the Bleep Do We Know?” again for inspiration.
