New Moon in Leo: Express Yourself

It’s been a rough year so far. The forces of fate have been grinding away at us and we are in flux. Like it or not, evolution is afoot. For most of us change is difficult. When we find something that feels good and works for us, or at least gives us some comfort and security, we are reluctant to give it up – especially when we have no idea what will replace it. Uncertainty generates worry, imagined horrors, a distrust of the future; of ourselves and each other.

This state of uncertainty is exhausting especially when we resist it. A lot of us are in clench mode and our bodies are suffering. I hear constant complaints about neck pain, backaches, headaches. I feel it myself. Energy wants to move through us but we are holding it in, holding our collective breath, clamping down on ourselves, suppressing the scream that longs to roar. What we need is a vacation!

The good news is that Wednesday evening we have a new moon. The Sun and Moon will conjunct in Leo. A new cycle begins and the energy shifts. Leo is about fun! Leo is ruled by the Sun. He likes to shine. He loves to play. He is happiest as a carefree child. He’s all about heart – the courage to love, to express, to create.

So go have some fun. Maybe you can’t actually take a vacation, but give your inner child a break and schedule some recreation. Fun is powerful. It lightens the heart. It releases tension through giggles. It relaxes the body. Lions yawn and stretch out their bodies in the sun. Fun stimulates your mind and imagination. Creativity awakens. You feel the need to express yourself. Lions roar. Fun is the companion of happiness. Fun elevates Spirit and nurtures Soul. Love flourishes in an atmosphere of fun.

We all need to practice fun. We have been working for 2100 years! The Piscean Age is coming to a close and we are flowing into the Aquarian Age. There is a heaviness to this current Age. Pisces operates on an axis with hard-working Virgo – Pisces water linked up with Virgo Earth. We have toiled endlessly and we have suffered mightily. It took a tremendous effort to build our civilization. We are seeing now the fruits of our labor. We may not like what we see, but we need to keep our eyes open so we can assess the consequences and make different choices.

The emerging Aquarian Age involves a completely different set of elements –Aquarian Air and Leonine Fire. Air fans Fire; Fire leaps into Air – the fire of our heart-felt passions, the sparks of our imagination, the heat in our loins, the blazing glory of our Spirit. Aquarius is about creating a true family of Humanity, about coming together in recognition of our Oneness to co-create a brilliant future, not from a position of martyred labor, but in a spirit of fun, fueled by creativity.

So practice the future this month. Let yourself shine. Allow your imagination free rein. Express yourself creatively. Venus, the Sun, the Moon, Mars and Juno are all in the USA 5^th house of creative Leo. Mercury,  within the hour of the New Moon, turns direct. All systems are GO. Our personal planets are playing in the heavens. Might as well join them. Autumn is approaching. The Sun will move into Virgo – back to work and school and schedules. Make the most of this Leo cycle. Have fun with your partner, your friends, yourself. Enjoy the outdoors. Hang out with Mother Nature. And find a way to creatively release the tensions of the past seven months. Do something you’ve never done before – paint a picture or write a story, dance away your stress, climb a mountain, go camping, enjoy the glory of the night sky. Tonight is the Delta Aquarids meteor shower. Lay out a blanket and watch the sparks from Heaven. Maybe one will land on your imagination.
