The Full Moon comes on the heels of the Jupiter/Neptune conjunction illuminating the split between the two worlds we currently live in. There is a strong spiritual emphasis encouraging us to dream a better future, to keep faith that the cosmos has a plan and it will all work out. So challenging when we are confronted daily with images of death and destruction, rampant corruption and abuses of power. 2022-2024 is a transition period between two realities and what we are witnessing now is the purging of the old corrupted world. Humanity is undergoing a detox that began in earnest with the Saturn/Pluto conjunction and continues to unfold. At this Full Moon we have a chance to tip the scales.
On Saturday morning at 11:55 on the West Coast, the Moon opposes the Sun from 26+ degrees of Libra. In the USA chart the Moon is in the 10th House – our image in, and impact on, the world. It is conjunct transiting Haumea and the USA natal Saturn/Juno conjunction.
Many Moons ago I wrote a piece on our potential role as peacekeepers and pioneers in justice. Don’t laugh, even though I couldn’t resist a chuckle. I was speaking about our potential. The natal chart reveals what is possible. It’s a catalog of all the tools available for us to learn, grow and evolve. So what does the natal Saturn/Juno tell us about our country?
Every heavenly body or energetic point carries energy that we express according to our state of consciousness. When we look at the vast spectrum of consciousness, that leaves us with almost unlimited expressions. So it’s hard to pin down the essence of an archetype. For instance, Saturn in Libra can manifest as controlling behavior, social dominance, unregulated ego. Conjunct Juno, the planet of commitment, it can reveal itself as a manic commitment to world domination. One possibility.
But Saturn in Libra conjunct Juno can also be a commitment to justice and well-being for all, to peace and beauty and harmony, to honorable, loving relationships. We are building an evolutionary force toward the latter. As we commit ourselves to these values and express them in our lives, we are increasing their presence in the world. When we reach a critical mass – 25% according to Scientific American – we can shift reality. I think the percentage is actually lower. Look at how fast bad grammar and irritating speech gain traction. Beginning sentences with “I mean” when there is no previous statement to clarify. Or more recently using “there is” for both singular and plural objects. Or doubling the verb in “the truth is is that . . .” And this from journalists!
I suggested last time that we can spread love just as quickly as we spread disease. Good will is catching. Think in your own life of the times that a stranger’s kindness or bright greeting shifted your own mood. During the Jupiter/Neptune conjunction I met the nicest people in customer service. It was almost a miracle! These people fixed my issues and we had a great time talking. I hung up feeling grateful.
So the key here is that we can carry the resonance of the world we want to live in and we can treat people with the respect and warmth they deserve. It’s in these simple acts that we tip the scales.
Full Moon conjunct Haumea is a joyous sign. Haumea is a prolific creator of diversity. She thrills to the wonder of what she creates and in the process regenerates herself. So she is the goddess of Rebirth and coming the day before Easter, the theme couldn’t be more evident.
While the Christian story is one of torture, suffering and death followed by resurrection, Haumea’s story is one of joyous rebirth through constant creation. We are the artists of our lives. In Libra we seek to create beauty, harmony and peace. So that’s one side of the scales.
Opposite Moon and Haumea, we have the Sun in Aries conjunct Eris and Pallas and semi-sextile the Jupiter/Neptune conjunction in Pisces. We know that Aries is a warrior. His energy is aggressive, which can become belligerent, but can also be protective, productive and effective. Symbolized by Mars, Aries supports action. This is where we take responsibility for how we express the energy. There’s a lot of it. The Sun brings its light and fire to Eris and Pallas. Eris has a bad rep for being a trouble maker, but as we’ve discussed before, she operates as a catalyst. She baits our egos and we take it from there. In Aries we can be impulsive, reactive. Aries is an immature energy, meaning that it carries beginner’s energy and hasn’t matured through experience yet.
Eris will trigger us, creating an opportunity for our egos to dance and reveal old patterns and the emotional attitudes that sustain them. Pallas Athena is really close to Eris in the 24th degree. I should understand Pallas well, but I’m a bit blind to her because she’s on my Ascendant – too close to bring into focus. However, I know that Pallas sprang from the head of Zeus – she was never born of a mother. She was depicted in Greek Mythology as a warrior who meddled in human conflicts and blessed her favorites.
Pallas has evolved through time to be associated with wisdom and the ability to stand her ground for what is right – a defender of justice and protector of the weak. Eris is a defender of the marginalized as well. Sun, Eris and Pallas have passed over the USA natal Chiron, but are still exerting a strong influence.
The Aries planets are in the 4th House of our chart. This is where our deepest issues lie and we have been blessed with Chiron in this House. As we approach our Chiron return, unresolved issues of inequality and injustice are up for healing. The first return happens in April of 2024. We have a lot of work to do! Our nation needs to go into therapy and take a good look at the dysfunctional psychology that is strangling our potential.
So that’s the solar/lunar axis at 26+ Aries/Libra which happens to square Pluto at 28 Capricorn, still conjunct our natal Pluto. To round out the whole picture, Saturn in Aquarius is squaring the nodal axis. So here are Saturn and Pluto co-stars of the Full Moon, giving us another chance to open our eyes and weigh our options; to look at where we are and what has gotten us here and decide if we can afford to continue down this path. This applies to our nation, but also to our very personal lives, because as we address our own issues, we bring healing to our collective.
Saturn and Pluto are still in our 2nd House urging us to examine our values. In our natal chart, Pluto is conjunct our South Node. Our potential here is to clean up our karma and reset our course. We have strayed from our path toward a more perfect union and the values of our democracy are gathering dust. We all know what to do and what we have put off doing. But now is a great time to take care of inner business, while we are bathed, by Jupiter and Neptune, in holy waters; while the Full Moon is throwing the spotlight on Haumea and the spirit of rebirth; while Eris and Pallas are emboldened in Aries; while our world hangs in the balance with Saturn at the fulcrum.
Change is imminent. The next new Moon is a partial Solar Eclipse to heat things up a bit more. The second half of a lunar cycle is about integrating what we have learned and releasing what no longer serves our growth. Enjoy these next two weeks, and look at the bumps in the road as wake up alerts, not evidence of the validity of our ego’s melodramatic autobiography. At the end of the month Jupiter pops into Aries and things will pick up even more speed. Blessedly the Sun will have moved into Taurus to help us ground and reconnect with self-nurturance.
In the meantime, here’s what we have to look forward to:
4/17 Mercury conj Uranus in Taurus – open to insights
4/18 Sun square Pluto – are there power struggles in our lives?
4/19 Sun into Taurus – aaaah!
4/20 Juno into Pisces – commitment to spiritual practice

4/24 Mercury square Saturn – what’s blocking us?
4/27 Venus conj Neptune – heart opening, raising frequency
4/29 Pluto SR – retrograde at 28:36 Taurus
4/29 Mercury into Gemini – mind picks up speed; ground
4/30 Pallas into Taurus – embodying wisdom
4/30 Venus conj Jupiter – how much love can we integrate?
4/30 Partial Solar Eclipse at 10:28 Taurus – getting grounded and so much more. See you then
