I couldn’t resist sending out a brief message because today is a milestone in human evolution. The New Moon took place early this morning with a stunning display of Fire. Coincidentally today is the Chinese New Year ushering in the Year of the Fire Horse.
On Valentine’s Day, aptly, Saturn entered Aries, the first Fire sign of the Zodiac, and will join Neptune on Friday for the most significant conjunction of the year. The emphasis is on activating heart energy. While Venus is the romantic expression of loving relationships, Neptune expands on that energy to lift us into a state of compassion, or agape, a love that unites us with All That Is.
2025 was the Year of the Wood Snake. What does the snake do periodically? It sheds its old skin to make room for more growth. During this process, it is less active, seeking isolation, avoiding food. In a way, it hibernates. It is lethargic as it goes through a metamorphosis.
Compare this to the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly. The worm weaves a cocoon, a dark, isolated space in which to dissolve its old form. It melts, so to speak, into a green goo, a transitional formless state out of which it reforms itself into a beautiful butterfly. It goes from a state of eating and crawling on its belly, to spreading its wings, flitting and flying from flower to flower, sampling nectar in a state of joy.
We have been hibernating, gestating our own new form, and today, with the New Moon at the tail end of Aquarius, we are ready to break out of our cocoons and take flight. To emphasize the message, the Sabian Symbol for 29 degrees of Aquarius is “Metamorphosis completed, a butterfly spreads its wings.”
How’s that for synchronicity?! Dane Rudhyar expands on this theme adding: “Immortality of the real self. Graduation into a new realm of being.”
Today is also Shrove Tuesday, a time of celebration, parades, festivals, Mardi (the French Word for Tuesday) Gras. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent which is a time of preparation for Resurrection. Lent is a time of shedding, like the snake, a dormant time in which we make peace with ourselves, atone for our trespasses, and purify our consciousness in preparation for rebirth. We were in this liminal state all last year.
The Fire Element is activating. Perhaps you have been feeling lethargic, unmotivated, stagnant. I sure have. It’s all part of the process. We needed to be less active, letting our energy work in subterranean realms, preparing for the changes that will now begin to manifest. It begins with the New Moon. Feel into the energies of the day – the ring of fire, the galloping Fire Horse, the butterfly emerging from the darkness and confines of its cocoon, and the celebration of the resurrection to come.
Blessings and love,
Diana
