This article was original published on Substack on June 12th. I started on Substack at the beginning of 2025. You might want to read my post on Neptune for a better understanding of this archetype.
There’s a lot to say about infinity and eternity meeting up with our 3-D world. So this will be the first of a series of looks at the multiple possibilities this conjunction holds.
In this post, we’ll explore the polarized qualities of these two planets. Our challenge is to find a way to integrate these archetypes in our lives and elevate them to their finest expression. There are unlimited possibilities of the ways in which this aspect can manifest. We’re witnessing one right now. Saturn is about discipline, control, power-over, patriarchal values. Neptune ultimately is about our spiritual oneness.
As Americans we have the right to assemble, the right to free speech and the right to protest peacefully. Our rights are eroding before our eyes. Our Constitution is meaningless to the current administration. We are witnessing the potential dissolution of our democracy. Responsible citizens are protesting, but our president doesn’t like it. Instead of listening to our wishes – he works for us, remember – he’s is attempting to cause a riot so he can declare Martial Law and have free rein to control our country.
It’s Neptune vs Saturn. Neptune is a realm of the ideal. Our founders were in Neptune’s thrall when they birthed a democratic state, a government of representation, and a Constitution that guaranteed our freedom. We can’t all crowd into the Capital and decide the direction our country should go, so we hire representatives to act out our will. But our will is being ignored. It’s time for us to unite (Neptune) in protest (Aries), to hold the boundary of our sovereignty (Saturn.)
See how Saturn works on both sides? In its dysfunctional, or negative expression, it turns into extreme materialism which fosters greed and the fear of scarcity which leads to the need to control. And that is the function of Saturn in our capitalist state, to enforce patriarchal values which sadly include separation, alienation and division of our population. It is exactly the separation within our society that made us vulnerable to take over. That is how authoritarian leaders come into power – divide and conquer.
We’re all wondering what to do about it. Obviously we need to come together, because together, we have the power. I hope you have been listening to the wisdom of influencers who warn us to stay peaceful. We want to avoid violence. We value peace and we must embody it, for it to have any effect.
The problem is that the separatists plant trouble-makers in the crowd whose job is to provoke a riot. Someone suggested that if a person within the protest initiates violence, everyone should lie down and point at the instigator. Not a bad idea. It sure would ruin any propagandistic videos.
Our president is testing the boundaries of our values, right now. How far will we let him go? How much do we care about our freedom? Where is the point of no return? Pluto is in Aquarius now, but still in our 2nd House. All along Pluto has been testing our values, pointing to the importance of sorting through beliefs and asking ourselves, what do I value the most? And Aquarius is the sign of Humanity, the potential that we hold to create a new world, if only we work together.
This message is screaming at us. Separated, we fall apart. Together we can stand strong, like the people of Ukraine who have refused to give in to a bully. We are another battlefield where fascism and authoritarianism clash with democratic ideals. Like Ukraine, we must not give in. We’re holding the line for the world. Destiny is knocking on our door. We’re in a war of values and we’re deciding right now what the Aquarian Age will look like.
I’ve made this little chart to suggest some of the tensions that exist between Saturn and Neptune. It’s an abbreviated list to give us a starting place.
- Saturn Neptune
- Boundaries Boundless
- Limitation Infinite possibility
- Form Formless
- Time Timeless
- Physical realm Transcendent
- Harsh facts Ideals
- Grounded Imagination/Dreams
- Rigidity Fluidity
- Control Surrender
- Hard work Go with the flow
- Separation Oneness
- Exclusion Inclusion
- Me We
Saturn likes to define and create boundaries. Neptune washes them away. Saturn shows us our limitations. Neptune dreams of infinite possibilities. Saturn creates form. Neptune is a formless realm. Saturn is about time, and time running out. Neptune reveals eternity. Saturn is grounded in the physical realm. Neptune is transcendent. Saturn wants the facts while Neptune loves to dream. Saturn in its low vibration wants control. Neptune asks us to surrender to the unknown and flow with the river of spirit. The boundary maker likes to separate things out from one another. Neptune wants to draw us all together. Saturn excludes while Neptune is open to all.
This list isn’t suggesting good vs bad. Saturn and Neptune both have their light and shadow sides. Saturn is about maturity and responsibility. Neptune can be about addiction, escape and delusion. How do we balance these opposites? Better yet, how do we incorporate them in a way that they work together in mutual support? Today we addressed our boundary issues as played out in our political scene. What about the boundless, and how do we hold our boundaries and be boundless?
We live in a finite world where we perceive solidity with our senses. We can look up at the night sky and see a piece of the boundless universe. We can also connect with the boundless world within. This space is equally vast, and for most of us, unexplored. One way we could unite our bounded world with our boundless inner world is through meditation.
What good would that do? It will make all the difference. The answers we seek are within. The key to wisdom is self-knowledge. Our strength, integrity, maturity are all found deep inside. This is a magical, mystical place where the enormous realm of Spirit supports us with sacred love. This is where we reconnect with our essential selves, our Higher Self, our inner guides and guardians. This is where our power lies.
What stops most of us is the beginning of the journey, when we have to wade through the debris of the past that blocks our way to the Divine. It’s a journey through the underworld that leads to the gates of infinity.
So let’s look at some facts. This conjunction heated up when Saturn entered 00 degrees of Aries on May 24th. Neptune entered two months earlier on March 30th. Neptune moves more slowly, so Saturn has almost caught up. The exact conjunction, however, will not take place until February 20th, 2026. That may seem forever away, but it’s close – just eight months down the road. These are months of gestation.
During these months, both planets will be moving back and forth between Aries and Pisces. This time is about endings and new beginnings. Here are some dates you might want to note on your calendar:
July 4 Neptune turns retrograde
7/13 Saturn turns retrograde
9/1 Saturn enters Pisces
10/22 Neptune enters Pisces
11/29 Saturn turns direct
12/11 Neptune turns direct
1/26/26 Neptune enters Aries
2/13 Saturn enters Aries
2/20 Saturn conjuncts Aries at 00 degrees of Aries 45 minutes
We see the dance between these two planets, making the transition from the past to a new present and a new future. 00 Aries is the beginning of the Zodiac. It represents the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one. It’s also known as the World Point. Our entire planet is being bathed in these opposing vibrations. Our job is to harmonize them, turn them into the highest resonance possible. That’s what we’re going to explore in the weeks to come.
We’re entering new territory. A new adventure is about to begin.
We can focus on letting go of trying to control our own reality and let it evolve. We can do a self-analysis and parse out the issues that hold us back. We can release grievance and cultivate gratitude. Self-examination is timely. We need to ask ourselves some serious questions. What world do I want to live in? What from my past keeps me from having it? How is that I created my reality and how do I take responsibility for it?
In the weeks to come, we’ll explore the possibilities and ponder some of the highest expressions of this conjunction – how to make the most of it. In the meantime, if you are serious about making the most of it, familiarize yourself with the traits of Saturn and Neptune. I have two prior posts on Substack about these two planets.
Here are the links: the one on Neptune is entitled “Neptune, Gateway to Cosmic Consciousness.”
The one on Saturn is part of the “What’s Going On” series.
I’ll be back next week. I don’t know what I will be writing. There’s so much to say. I want to address this on many levels – how does it affect our personal lives? What does it ask of us and what growth opportunities does it bring? What about our country? And the planet? How will it affect the global climate crisis? We’ll just go with the flow and see where we end up.
